PEOPLE are being advised to avoid attending the Royal Gwent - TopicsExpress

PEOPLE are being advised to avoid attending the Royal Gwent Hospitals A&E department unless absolutely necessary due to it being extremely busy. The department has been dealing with high numbers of patients since Saturday afternoon, but is busier than ever at the moment, and Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is urging people to stay away if at all possible, or use the minor injuries units at Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr in Ystrad Mynach and Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan in Ebbw Vale, where waits are likely to be shorter. Our emergency departments have been extremely busy since Saturday afternoon and the GP out-of-hours service has also experienced a high volume of calls, said a spokesman. People with cold and flu-like symptoms are being urged to consider self-care or seeking advice from their local pharmacy. The health board also has advice pages at wales.nhs.uk The details for the minor injuries units are as follows: Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan, Lime Avenue, Ebbw Vale, NP23 6GL, telephone 01495 363636 - open 9am-7pm on week days, closed weekends and bank holidays; Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr, Ystrad Fawr Way, Ystrad Mynach, CF82 7GP, telephone 01443 802248 - open 24 hours a day, including bank holidays.
