PEOPLE, if you are buying a stallion of any breed other than an Arab or a thoroughbred, PLEASE consider testing them for PSSM before you do any breeding!! My stallion was a carrier, and I was unaware of this, and didnt learn of this horrible condition until my gelding (my stud was his sire) was having awful symptoms. Although PSSM can be controlled by diet (most of the time), it is very awful to watch your horse have an attack, and all of their muscles seize up. Arabs and thoroughbreds at this time are the ONLY breeds that dont have this mutated gene. Its a simple hair test!!!!! Please be responsible!!!!
