PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY God does not want us to do - TopicsExpress

PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY God does not want us to do extraordinary things; He wants us to do ordinary things extraordinarily well. - Bishop Gore Scripture for the day: But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. - Galatians 6:4 One of the hallmarks of excellence in any field of endeavor is paying attention to details of what is entrusted to a person. The oft-quoted idiom always cross your ts and dot your is cannot be overemphasized if one would not only be good but great in any venture. In simple terms, this idiom means people must check their work and make sure that everything is done correctly, even the seemingly insignificant things. This feature of excellence also holds true in the spiritual life of every child of God. Our scripture reading for today exhorts all Christians to routinely evaluate their own walk of faith and work in the Kingdom of God. There is a great tendency to be lost among the crowd in any local church without any obvious evidence of ones contribution towards the success of that ministry. In a typical local church, only a few dedicated people are actively involved in the work of the ministry. Unfortunately, the Pareto Principle also known as the Law of the vital few which states that, for many events, roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes, holds through in many local churches. Usually, 20% of congregants contribute 80% of the churchs finances, labor force, regular attendees of programs and essentially all activities associated with the local church. That means about 80% of Christians are operating under the radar in the Fathers business in most local churches. This is a sad state of affairs and must not be so! Every child of God must examine or evaluate his/her own work, exhorts the word of God. This must be done on a regular basis, preferably on a weekly or monthly basis. The joy of ministry should not only be on the corporate but also on the personal level. When a persons work pleases the Lord, the rejoicing begins within them and diffuses externally to involve the entire church and Kingdom of God. Its time to roll up your sleeves and throw your hat into the arena of the Great Commission. You are not an appendage in the Body of Christ; you are an integral part! Its time to hold your own self accountable regarding your work in the Kingdom of God. Therein lies your innate joy and when the Master appears, Hell have no problem extolling you for your indefatigable work and labor of love in His Kingdom. Memory verse: But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. - Galatians 6:4 Rev. Dr. Isaac Paintsil ©
