*** PERTH WEATHER LIVE SEVERE WEATHER WARNING *** • PLEASE SHARE THIS POST • * THIS INCLUDES PERTH METRO * ISSUED AT : 4:05PM Posted By : STEVE BROOKS ======= Severe Weather Warning for destructive winds and heavy rain for people in the Central West, Lower West, South West, South Coastal, South East Coastal, Great Southern and Central Wheat Belt forecast districts Issued at 4:05 pm WST on Thursday 25 July 2013. For people in parts of WA southwest of a line from Kalbarri to Paynes Find to Southern Cross to Israelite Bay. This includes people in, near or between the following towns: Kalbarri, Northampton, Geraldton, Jurien Bay, Dalwallinu, York, Southern Cross, Narrogin, Katanning, Margaret River, Busselton, Bunbury, Albany, Esperance, Mandurah and the Perth Metropolitan area. Weather Situation A cold front is expected to approach the west coast during the early hours of Friday morning and move across the South West Land Division during the course of the day. During Friday afternoon a secondary cold front will approach the southwest corner of the state. The first front is likely to cause WIDESPREAD DAMAGING WINDS to 100 kilometres per hour that could result in DAMAGE TO HOMES AND PROPERTY. In isolated areas DANGEROUS GUSTS in excess of 125 kilometres per hour could cause SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE OR DESTRUCTION TO HOMES AND PROPERTY. DAMAGING WINDS are likely to develop along the west coast from Kalbarri to Walpole between 12am and 2am and extend inland to remaining areas by midday Friday. The first front is also likely to cause HEAVY RAINFALL that may lead to FLASH FLOODING in parts of the warning area. The passage of the secondary front is also likely to cause WIDESPREAD DAMAGING WINDS to 100 kilometres per hour that could result in DAMAGE TO HOMES AND PROPERTY southwest of a line Jurien Bay to Bremer Bay on Friday afternoon. DAMAGING WINDS will extend to southwest of a line Dongara to Paynes Find to Israelite Bay by the evening. Large swells will accompany the secondary front leading to DANGEROUS SURF CONDITIONS which could cause significant beach erosion. People in the south of WA experience a system as windy as this about 5 time per year. The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: Store or weigh down loose objects such as outdoor furniture. Have an emergency kit with a battery operated radio, torch, spare batteries and first aid kit. Ensure pets and animals are in a safe area. Move vehicles under cover. Boat owners should securely moor their boats. Campers should find shelter away from trees, power lines, storm water drains and streams. If your home or property has significant damage, like a badly damaged roof or flooding, call the SES on 132 500. The next warning will be issued by 11:00 pm WST Thursday.
