PHILIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN Ten Best The late Philip Seymour Hoffman - TopicsExpress

PHILIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN Ten Best The late Philip Seymour Hoffman was one of the greatest actors of the last fifty years. I doubt many would disagree. His career was so prolific its shocking to read his filmography. Narrowing this down to ten was tricky given that, essentially everything he did was brilliant. His portrayal of characters with inner demons was a signature of his work. The weight and gravitas he brought to these characters never felt forced and given the circumstances of his demise it is clear that he was a man with much inner conflict to draw on. Sorely missed already, I believe I will spend years thinking of what brilliant performances he could have given still. One of his last accolades was the overwhelming praise he received for his portrayal of Willie Loeman in The Death of a Salesman on Broadway, a true testament to the skill of a man who was only 46 years of age. On a lighter note, I will always remember him fondly for enriching the world of comedy for coining the term SHART. His best. 1. CAPOTE 2. SYNECHDOCHE, NEW YORK 3. CHARLIE WILSONS WAR 4. DOUBT 5. A LATE QUARTET 6. THE MASTER 7. ALMOST FAMOUS 8. BOOGIE NIGHTS 9. BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOURE DEAD 10. ALONG CAME POLLY
