PHILS PERFORMANCE ARCHIVES (9) Staying in 1969, this next one is a little more difficult to define, in terms of why its so special. It just is, because whenever I hear it, theres an immediate grin and an anticipation of the whole experience; so I put it down to a team effort and the belief of the guys concerned to allow the track to continue to its rather chaotic end, rather than fade after the main song, as many would have. Ive never been a massive Mott The Hoople fan, either early or later versions, but certain tracks really do get to me. The star points from this song are the sound of the main guitar, and allowing Ian Hunters vocal to fight against the band in the mix - really effective, but not everybody does this sort of mix; it gives some songs more power, in my world anyway. Before I stray into technical bollocks, Ill stop now!youtube/watch?v=kOUjbNo4nrs
