PHL AMBASSADOR TO NIGERIA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS, MEETS WITH FILIPINO COMMUNITY IN CAMEROON 01 August 2014 -Philippine Ambassador to Nigeria Alex V. Lamadrid presented the open copies of his letters of credence as Philippine Non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Cameroon to Cameroonian Foreign Minister Pierre Mkoko Mbonjo, at ceremonies held at the Ministry of External Relations in Yaounde on July 25. During the bilateral meeting which followed the ceremony, the two officials reviewed the status of bilateral relations and discussed matters of common concern. Ambassador Lamadrid also met with Chief of Protocol Innocent Meutcheye and called on the Director for Asian Affairs and Relations with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). In the capital city Yaounde and in the port city of Douala, Ambassador Lamadrid was feted by the Filipino Community in Cameroon (FCC). The relatively small but vibrant Filipino community numbers at about 200 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), mostly professionals in the commercial and construction fields, religious missionaries, and wives of Cameroonian nationals. Ambassador Lamadrid addressed the concerns of the OFWs regarding the Philippine Embassy’s consular and Assistance-To-Nationals services, as well as encouraged them to register as overseas voters. Embassy Communications and Administrative Assistant Clifford Legal assisted Ambassador Lamadrid and processed applications for passports and overseas voters registration. END
