PHONE SCAM!!! This happened today and I believe it has been going on for quite some time. Please be aware of the call from Ambank (local number and they are speaking in Malay) telling you that you have a transaction from a credit card. When you say you did not transfer any money then they will ask you to reset your card in order to freeze your bank account. They will pass you a number of the so-called Bank Negara and then the investigator in the bank. They keep you occupied and telling you the recording of the phone call must not have any third party around you. They will ask you go to the nearest ATM machine to do the setting and guide you step-by-step to reset. In fact, they can make you transfer the money from your account without knowing it (dont even have to key in the account number!). Very very clever thing is that they actually can change the things on the screen of the ATM machine to make it look like you are doing the setting. They will ask you to press the number 0049xx and then after the whole thing is done and when you check the slip the money in your account is deducted by around 5k (if you have limit of 1 or 2k, they are willing to teach you to set the limit to higher as well). When you realise that, they will say the money is accidentally transferred then ask you to go to the nearest cash deposit machine (within half an hour) and they will transfer the money back to you. Apparently they wanna get more money from you. Please be very suspicious when you get any calls from bank. What I got last time was a very fake robotic voice, guess now they have improved somehow.
