PHOTO FRIDAY: Aled Davies and his gold medal once-in-a-lifetime moment after his stunning IPC European Championships success in Swansea. 23-year-old Aled from Bridgend who captained the Wales team at the Commonwealth Games recently responded to the support from home fans by dominating the F42 shot put final at Sketty Lane. This means everything, he said. Its a once-in-a-lifetime moment for me, winning in front of a home crowd. A lot of my family and friends are here and the support from the crowd generally was special. I couldnt be happier. Swansea has been hosting some of the finest disabled athletes from Britain and the Continent at the Swansea University International Sports Village and fans of track and field should grab a taste of the IPC European Championships action while they can! Former Wales international Paul Thorburn, chairman of the Swansea 2014 local organising committee, said: Saturday is the climax, and it would be nice to go out with a bang. We would like to see more people sitting in the stand on the other side of the main track. All we can do is encourage them to come down and see these athletes perform the way they do.
