PHS COLLEGE AND CAREER WEEK - OCT. 28-NOV. 1ST (Will try to post the events for each day in a timely manner) Monday Activities/Events: Grades 7-8 will begin to explore Career Clusters in all their classes. Grade 9 will begin to explore Career Clusters in English, computers, science and math classes. Grade 10 will learn about ASVAB testing during English class. Grade 11 will use the KHEAA website to research colleges/universities/trade schools in KY through English class. Grade 12 (and some JRS) will review for the ASVAB test on Tuesday as a group at 9:00. Review conducted by Sgt. Tommy Patterson with the National Guard. Billie Jean Cole, with Big Sandy Community & Technical College, will speak to the students about career choices and post-secondary education in groups throughout the day. COLLEGE INFO PARENT NIGHT will be held at 6:00 PM. Presented by KHEAA (KY Higher Education Assistance Authority), this event is for ALL parents who want to know more about the college process so they can better help their child navigate that path when the time comes. Geared more toward the high school parents but junior high parents are certainly welcome to attend! (Students do not need to attend - this is a workshop for the parents.)
