PIA-NCR: The Philippine Medical Association (PMA) requested President Benigno Aquino to ban the sale of electronic cigarettes in the Philippines. This is amid the recent warning issued by the World Health Organization (WHO) that the nicotine replacement therapy in e-cigarettes is unsafe for human. PMA President Dr. Leo Olarte urged the President to direct the Department of Interior and Local Government to seriously study the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Advisories 2013-008 and 2013- 015. Olarte said that e-cigarette is not an "alternative lifestyle" but an "alternative vice" that should not be taught to public in general and children in particular.
