PIA: The Taal Volcano was placed under Alert Level 1 Wednesday morning after a volcanic quake was detected in the area, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said. The agency reiterated the delineation of a six-kilometer permanent danger zone around Taal Volcano and warned that "sudden explosions may occur and high concentrations of toxic gases may accumulate." "The northern portion of the crater rim, in the vicinity of Daang Kastila Trail, may also become hazardous when steam emissions along existing fissures suddenly increase," it added.
