PIONEERING LIGHTWEIGHT BACKPACKING, in 1972: - When I traversed afoot in Colorado to the top of 14,000-foot mountains, alone for two weeks at a time, seven years in a row, I called my mountaintop vantage point in Nature my Outdoor Chapel, and my little expedition tent my Rocky Mountain Hilton!!! - To survive in the elements, alone with God in his creation, was a PRICELESS EXPERIENCE. It built an enormous amount of appreciation for His Nature, and added greatly to my own self-confidence. - It is this kind of independence, self-sufficiency, and knowledge we all should pass on to our children. - Gary D.
