PRIMARY PURPOSE This employee will provide field support, and be the primary Wabtec Global Services interface, supporting the customer’s efforts to install Positive Train Control (PTC) systems on locomotives. The employee will support the efforts of WGS installation crews and carry out the following primary duties: 2. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Act as the primary technical interface between Wabtec Global Services, including installation crews and engineering and project management resources, and customer’s management and contractors involved in PTC installations. Daily tasks may include working any installation, engineering, material, logistical, or any other project related issue. Provide Quality Control by maintaining quality documents and performing post-task and in-process inspections, to ensure adherence to standards of quality and workmanship on installations. Develop product knowledge required to appropriately install, maintain, test, and troubleshoot PTC systems. Develop knowledge of customer equipment (locomotives, cab cars) adequately to assist in defining installation procedures. Train and guide installation crew members, as necessary, in the installation, testing and troubleshooting of the PTC systems. Be available on a 24/7 basis for necessary support of system installations and commissioning. Post-commissioning, this employee may assume the role as the primary field technical support for the customer. This support activity will include addressing and fixing system issues in the field, providing technical support to customer maintenance and operational employees, managing spare parts pools, or potentially advising the customer on the management of a spares pool. Travel domestically, up to approximately 75%, for PTC installation and system support, as necessary. This employee will provide support at the customer site, where installations are performed, as directed by the customer. During system commissioning and post-commissioning, this employee may also be required to support field issues anywhere in the customer’s operating territory. Requirements 3. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Minimum education, job experience, certifications, skills, knowledge and abilities that incumbent must typically have to perform the essential functions of the job acceptably with or without a reasonable accommodation. Project management or project coordination experience, ability to work with multiple organizational departments. Accredited training in electronics and/or software systems, or equivalent experience required. Field service / Field engineering experience a plus. Knowledge of electrical and mechanical installation techniques and principles. Previous knowledge and experience with pneumatic systems, electronics installation and testing, software installation, configuration and testing and mechanical systems. Ability to read, interpret and explain technical documents such as engineering drawings/specifications, test procedures, and electrical schematics required. Electrical and mechanical test equipment.
