PLEASE DONT IGNORE! Watch the scripture unfold! Perfect example of why we dont take one verse and build a doctrine on that one verse!! A people for his name THIS IS GOOD!!! Whosoever shall call upon the name of The Lord shall be saved!!! Acts 15:14-15 And Simeon(Simon Peter) hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles(thats us), to take out of them a people for his name! To this agree the words of the Prophets!! In order for us to understand what is being said here about us Gentiles,we need to understand what the Prophets were saying,as James is referring to them for explaination of his speech here. Verse 16-17 James is quoting the Prophet Amos chapter 9:11-12 first lets read Jamess quote! Acts 15:16-17 After this I will return and will build again the tabernacle of David,which is fallen down,and I will build again the ruins thereof,and I will set it up,That the residue of men might seek after The Lord,and all the Gentiles,Upon whom my name is called saith The Lord,who doeth all these things. James quotes it,as he had known it to have already happened,or by what had taken place!! Shew Lord!! Holy Ghost cold chill!!! :) Keep in my mind what is being discussed here in Acts 15, is how the Gentiles came to be saved in Acts 10 by the mouth of the Apostle Peter. Now lets look at how Amos the Prophet had actually said it in the original prophecy. Amos 9:11-12 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen,and close up the breaches thereof,and I will raise up the ruins,and I will build it as in the days of old. That they may possess the remnant Of Edom ,and of all the heathen(Gentiles),which are Called by my name,saith The Lord that doeth this. James quoted it as Upon whom my name is called Amoss words were Who are called by my name In what manner or by what process, did the Gentiles have the name of Jesus called upon on them or called by his name? One amazing thing about this is that the Apostle Peter referenced the Prophets in Verse 43 of Chapter 10 when he said To him give all the Prophets witness,that through his name,whosoever believeth in him shall recieve remission of sins. Acts 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of The Lord. This same Peter preached the very first New Testament message of salvation in Acts 2:38......Repent and be baptized everyone of you in The name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sin(through his name receive remission of sin)and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost! When Jesus became Obedient unto death even the death of the cross,Phil 2:9 wherefore God hath highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name!! Acts 5:32 The Holy Ghost given to them that obeyhim. Acts 6:7 They were Obedientunto the faith. Romans 2:8 He calls those that wont Obeytruth, contentious. Romans 6:17 after explaining what baptism does,Paul says that they obeyedthe doctrine from the heart. Romans 10:16 Paul said they wouldnt Obey the gospel. Gal 3:1,Gal 5:7,2 Thess.1:8,1Pet 4:17 Heb 11:8 1Pet 1:22 Hebrews 5:8-9 Though he were a son,yet learned he Obedience by the things which he suffered. And being made perfect,he became the author of Salvation,unto all them that Obey him. It all right there in our Bibles!! Rightly dividing the word of truth!! THERE IS MORE!!
