If I am injured when caught on a barbed wire fenc...See more PLEASE DON’T SHOOT ME.... Life is hard enough for me. I am a highly intelligent, warm blooded mammal and I feel pain and fear. If I am injured when caught on a barbed wire fence, trapped in large aperture fruit tree netting, savaged by a dog, hit by a car, electrocuted on powerlines or blasted with a shotgun, I will suffer the same amount of pain and distress that all mammals feel. I bleed when I am injured and my species die in their thousands as a direct result of human ignorance, greed and cruelty. Ongoing and accelerating habitat destruction is robbing me of not only my future but that of the humans who rely upon the forests that bats create. Greedy, unscientific government policies are all hammering nails into the coffin of our vulnerable species including my cousins, the Grey-headed and Spectacled flying-foxes. If you don’t touch me, you have nothing to fear from me so why can’t you just leave me alone to get on with my important job pollinating and spreading the seeds of the forests? NO ME, NO TREE, JUST LET ME BE......
