PLEASE HELP! CLOSING THIS WILL HURT EVERYONE........it will disfranchises children, handicapped, elderly as well as farmer, rancher, hunters, fishermen and citizens in general.... ARRA - American for Responsible Recreational Access August 19, 2013 - BLM and the Routt National Forest have published the Draft Northwest Colorado Greater Sage-Grouse Resource Management Plan Amendment (DRMP) and Draft Environmental Impact Statement in the Federal Register. The DRMP considers four possible management alternatives for “maintaining and increasing habitat” for the Greater Sage-Grouse on 1.6 million acres of BLM and Routt National Forest lands in northwestern Colorado. Current designations for motorized use in the planning area include 202,600 acres designated as open to cross-country travel, 1,472,100 acres designated as limited to designated routes and 52,600 acres designated as closed to motorized use. The DRMP’s preferred alternative would reduce the acreage of areas designated as limited to designated routes from 1,472,100 to 921,600. Acreage designated as open or closed would remain the same. This action is part of a broader Greater Sage-Grouse conservation strategy by BLM and USFS as a result of the US Fish and Wildlife Service’s 2010 listing decision for the Greater Sage-Grouse as “warranted but precluded” under the Endangered Species Act. More background information is provided on the ARRA website. Comments on the DRMP must be received by November 14, 2013. It is important that OHV enthusiasts stay involved in this designation process by submitting comments to BLM staff.
