Our Champions will be on hand to ‘Meet & Greet’ fans at the Chesa Nyama Restaurant in Krugersdorp CBD on Saturday 29th November commencing at 11h30. The Krugersdorp City Council has pledged their support and Metro Police will be closing off Monument Road in Krugersdorp and redirecting traffic. Local professional champions Johnny Muller, Ryno Liebenberg and the best straw weight on the planet at this moment in time Hekkie Budler will be making a public appearance in support of local amateur boxing. Chesa Nyama’s recent sponsorship of boxing is a breath of fresh air and CEO Stelio Nathanael believes that for the sport to grow investment in amateur boxing is a necessity. Boxing Hall of Fame inductee Brian Mitchell and South Africa’s ‘Rose of Soweto’ Dingaan Thobela have also pledged their support and will attend as ‘Guests of Honour’. Taking us back in time South African champions Stoffel, Andries, Gert and Bennie from Krugersdorp made boxing history in the 60’s and 70’s as one of the best fighting family’s. An invitation will be extended for them to attend. Witpoortjie ‘Vikings’ Amateur Boxing Club will embrace the moment by honouring their young achievers. In addition Johnny and Hekkie will be presented with honouree membership and declared Ambassadors of boxing by the local amateur boxing club Witpoortjie. Rhyno Liebenberg will be also present to welcome Krugersdorp West, Randgate, Avante and Kagiso boxing clubs who have all been invited to participate in the day’s activities. We take this opportunity to showcase young fighters with demonstrations of skipping, shadow boxing, hand pads and sparring. There will also be a jumping castle for the kids and live music at the Bar area afterwards.
