PLEASE NOTE! A nationwide curfew has been announced from 22.00 – 05.00 Thai local time and remains in place until further notice. WHAT IS A CURFEW? An order specifying a time during which certain regulations apply. In this case to stay away from the streets during these hours. The Thai Military earlier today declared a coup stating that the military is taking control over the government – to restore order and enact political reforms. This comes after months of political turmoil and after the announcement of Marital Law on Tuesday. Since then, it has not been possible to come to an agreement between the parties. The Military General states: The military has to return peace and order to the country as soon as possible and to reform [the] political and social structure to ensure fairness for every side, he said. I ask the people to remain calm and carry on with their business as usual. In a situation like this the army might put restriction for a short time on movements at night and media, including social media.
