But my hope will buy you a smile and a handshake and nothing more. And what we know of the human propensity to devalue life, especially of those deemed as being inferior, there could well be significant substance to this report. In the context of the residential school system it is highly suggestive to me that this mass murder was an act within a continuing pattern of genocide as defined by the United Nations genocide convention of 1948. This allegation of mass murder of Canadian First Nation children must be investigated by the RCMP under the direction of an impartial international authority. But then we have a problem with this discussion. The problem is that Prime Minister Harper and Foreign Affairs Minister Baird and other ministers of the crown by their lengthy silence on ongoing genocides in the world - including Darfur, the Rohingya in Myanmar, Muslims and Christians in CAR, etc are complicit with genocide. Our government leaders have remained silent for many months, in spite of a consistent campaign to get them to take a stand on genocide. By the same token Justin Trudeau and Opposition Leader Thomas Mulcair, leaders respectively of the Liberal Party of Canada and the NDP, have also been unresponsive to repeated requests to take a stand on genocide in the world today. The reality is that the Canadian government at its highest levels is in complicity, through its silence, with genocides around the world. And the leaders of our major parties seem to be in step with that. So how can any reasonable person expect the Canadian government to be open to investigation of this genocidal mass murder of First Nations children? I hope our leaders will involve their counterparts throughout Turtle Island, and take this matter to the United Nations and other appropriate international bodies for investigation. One Who Walks
