PLEASE READ, I NEED YOUR HELP. As many of you know, FAOIS annually conducts a raffle-based Christmas toy drive benefitting the patients of All Children’s Hospital of St.Petersburg, Florida. The donated toys are distributed to the families of currently hospitalized sick or injured children. Often these families are financially devastated and the kids aren’t likely to receive gifts without our assistance. To generate the most donations, we ask aquarium product manufacturers to contribute one of their high-end products to the raffle. Any item is greatly appreciated but the more exciting and in-demand pieces generate the most toys and buzz within our community. A manufacturer’s sponsorship is recognized many times throughout the duration of the multi-month event. In the past, this community, our sponsors and FAOIS has generated truckloads of toys that have brought a bit of joy and escape during the Holidays for kids at All Children’s Hospital. A description of how the process works can be found here: facesandplaces.allkids.org/2012/12/its-wonderland-life-new-toy-tradition_5760.html#uds-search-results Unfortunately, this year’s sponsorship has been less than stellar. At this time, only a small group of major manufacturers have even acknowledged our request for help. Participation is at an all-time low and FAOIS could use your assistance in getting more name brand “buzz” worthy companies to donate an in-demand product. Social media seems to be able to pull off miracles and Im hoping you can help gain some attention to this cause. Please politely and respectfully distribute/share this plea to your favorite aquarium product company. With your assistance, maybe we can lessen the hardship on a few children and their parents over Christmas. My family knows firsthand the empty despair of having our boy in serious condition and being cared for by this miracle-working hospital. Time is running out. This year’s raffle is scheduled for December 13th at 6 PM. Thank you, John Reiter FISH and other ICHTHY stuff
