PLEASE READ On this page, the Sādāt and the various tribes which together make the Sādāt can communicate and get to know each other with respect to origin, history and generational information. It is a fact that majority of the Sādāt born in the west have either paid no attention or have little interest in this subject. In this issue, for the case of presentation of intent and cause, we will present some common questions and objections with answers. Q) Why should I, as a Sayyid, treat this issue with importance? A) The Holy Prophet (ص) has said that every connection of ancestry and relationship will be disconnected and cut on the day of judgement except for his descendants with relationship to him[1]. This is narrated in Shiī and Sunnī sources. Therefore, it is important that this is perceived as a trust from the Holy Prophet (ص) and good relations between Sādāt is a joy to the eyes of Rasūlallāh (ص).While protecting the genealogy of the Sādāt is obligatory on every Sayyid. Q) When you say protection of geneology, I presume you mean from non-Sayyids. Is this not pride? A) Throughout history the Alawids have been accused of possessing an ego and pride. However, this accusation stems from ignorance. Anyone who has an identity will always go through great efforts to protect his identity from duplication, manipulation and intrusion. This is natural as the human identity is regarded as holy, regardless of ancestry. Whether this is done on an individual or collective level is irrelevant. As mentioned before, the Prophet (ص) gave glad tidings to his descendants that they would remain his descendants even on the day of judgement and will be treated accordingly depending on their deeds. The Prophet (ص) has cursed one who enters in to the genealogy of someone else and he who exits his own geneology. We have seen many examples throughout history of false claimants to Sayyādah for the reason of evil and self benefit. Therefore it is only natural that there is an attempt to protect ones own identity from intrusion. Q) This page means the publication of material relating to the Sādāt, are you not inviting false claims? A) This a common objection. However, it is baseless. Many scholars of Ansāb[2] have published their works on the Sādāt and have mentioned the ancestry of the Sayyids. This work is readily available for anyone. It should serve as a guide to the Sādāt in understanding each other while it should serve as a proof and aid for non-Sayyids to aid and assist the Sādāt in their attempts to protect their own identity. The works are available in Qom, Najaf, Karbalā, Syria, Egypt and Yemen. From Qom, two famous names are Ayatullāh Sayyid Shihbuddīn Marashī (رح) and his student, Sayyid Mahdī Rajāī. From Najaf, you have Sayyid Abū Saīdah Al-Mūsāwī. From Baghdād, you have Sayyid Nabīl Al-Arajī while in Turkey you have Sayyid Fathī Al-Hussainī. In Pakistān, you have Sayyid Muhsin Al-Kādhimi, Sayyid Abū Zahrā Al-Mūsāwī and Sayyid Qamar Abbās Al-Arajī. However these are only scholars of the present, while there have been many scholars of the past who have published books owned by Sādāt and non-Sādāt alike, like Sayyid Jamāluddīn or Ibn Inabāh, Sayyid Taqtaqā and their likes.
