To put it in simple terms, a local primary school has just been informed that £75,000 will be cut from their budget!! Voluntary Grammar Schools such as BRA will be hit hardest - with the school already contributing to 15% of the running of such a success school. In summary, these cuts will result in ; - 7% cut to school budgets - larger classroom sizes - reduction in teacher & non teaching staff (estimated that 1000 teaching jobs & 1500 non teaching jobs will be lost in NI), on average 6 per school!!!!) - minority subjects axed from curriculum - poorer teaching quality - school leavers may not attain grades for NI universities (much higher fees) - cuts in extra curricular activities - and much much more..... This is not scare mongering, but a very real reality unless we ALL unite & take action.
