PLEASE READ THIS AND SHARE! My time with Pebbles… I decided to take Pebbies for a walk in the park yesterday, to give her some time away from the shelter and to give me some company. She jumped right into the back seat, like shes done it her entire life. Once we started moving, she was content to sit and look out the window. By the time we got home, 5 minutes later, she was laying down in the back, luxuriating in the air conditioning I had blowing on her. I didnt know what to expect when we got home so we took it slow bringing her inside. Well, that was totally unnecessary. Pebs came into my house happily and slowly. She didnt go running all over the place and was content to look to us (me and my husband) for direction. Not knowing how my cats would react to her, we kept Pebs close to us as they each slowly came in to see what the heck was in their space. Long story short, the cats freaked out but Pebs couldnt care less. She tried to sniff them once and then paid them no mind at all. She was perfect! I only wish my cats were as polite. If they were, I wouldnt be writing this now because she would be right her next to me, in her lifetime home. And folks, please understand, I have loved every dog in the 5 years Ive been an AWSOM volunteer. But Pebbles is the first dog, in those 5 years, that Ive considered adopting. This is how special she is. She walked around, smelling what she could for a few minutes, all the while, looking back at us to check in. After she became familiar with the new smells, she looked at my husband, who was sitting on the couch. He patted the couch next to him, letting her know it was ok for her to come up and boy oh boy, she jumped right up, laying in total bliss between us. What an absolute joy and delight she is. I think shell need about half an hour to adjust in a new home and then itll be like shes lived there her entire life. When it was time to go, all I had to do was show her the leash and she came right over to me and put her head down, knowing that when the leash was snapped on, it was time to go on another adventure. If you havent seen Pebbies happy dance, you are missing out. Do yourself a favor and watch it here now: youtu.be/9e8aJ58bxPs So off we went to Pinebrook Park for a nice walk by the river. As soon as Pebs jumped out of the car, her tail started wagging and it didnt stop until we were back in the car on the way home. She was ecstatic to be outside, doing something new, smelling all the wonderful smells nature has to offer. Because she is 6 years old, I was worried about wearing her out too soon but once again, the egg was on me. Pebbies was so eager and excited that she kept me going! I wish you could have seen how happy she was. I got choked up seeing this girl, who I love so much, be free, if only for a little while. We encountered a few other dogs on the path and she showed little interest in them because she was so engrossed in the wonderful grass she was walking through. Back in the car, baby girl curled up in the back seat and closed her eyes almost immediately. I turned up the radio and we drove back to the shelter in comfortable companionship. I cannot for the life of me, understand why nobody has shown any interest in adopting Pebbies. She is incredible. She is gentle and kind, sweet and loving, playful and silly. I look into her eyes and only see an amazing being, filled with unconditional love and loyalty. I havent the foggiest idea why nobody is drawn to her. It baffles me. She is amazing. If you are looking for a true friend, for someone to be a loyal companion then look no further. You wont ever feel lonely again. You wont ever feel sad again. You wont ever want to be without her again. Life as you know it will be split into two: before Pebbles and after Pebbles. Even though I am not blinded by the love I have for her (well maybe just a little), dont take my word for it. Come straight away to the AWSOM shelter in Stroudsburg, PA to meet her. Please. You are missing out on one of the greatest loves you will ever have in your life.
