PLEASE READ THIS POSTING Attention all Seabees and Honey Bees, I am writing this letter to ask you all a question. The question is what do you think of placing a Seabee Memorial Statue in a Veterans Memorial Park. My understanding is the Bee has been our Mascot since WWII 1942 to present day. We the members of Island X-16 are in the process of building a Seabee that we would like to place in the Veterans Park for all Seabees and there Honey Bees to see and for all others to no who and what Seabees do, We the members of Island X-16 are in the proses of building one. Attached are some photos of the progress so far. In doing this we are asking your opinion and help to accomplish this project. Ive sent out emails to all Florida Islands but have yet to receive any response from anyone. I thought I would post this letter here to see if anyone would respond. We of Island X-16 are getting much older as we all are, it would be a great tribute for all Seabees living in or visiting Florida in the future. We were denied because of a technically of serving only in the military from Hillsborough County born and raised here only. To us this is a form of discrimination. A Veteran is a Veteran no matter were from or were born . We all fought together in all wars especially Seabees since 1942 WWII till present day. So with that said with do respect I am asking you to say YES and send a petition from your Island or just a personal note with names so we can place the Bee in the Park for all Seabees an People to see. Box 38 Riverview Fl, 33568 You also can place your comments on Facebook so all Seabees can comment. We are in the final stages of completion. The cost so far is mostly from donations of materials from companies, myself and the Chief Welder who built one in California when station there photos are enclosed., and now wants to build one again here in Florida. There is no cost to the county or Parks Department. Hoping you all can help in some way a list of names would be a priority the more names we can get the better for us to place the Bee in the park. Funds are starting to run out so if you like to make a donation it would be more then appreciated with gratitude to Honor all Seabees.
