Lead can have serious effects on the health of children. Consumer NZs survey of face paints found that “Carnival Colors - Make Up Kit” contained extremely high levels of lead (15,200mg/kg). The company voluntarily recalled the face paints but people may have already purchased the face paints. If you this product in your Early Childhood Education Centre, our office recommends that you: Stop using this product immediately Discard the product in your local rubbish collection The link to the media statement by Consumer NZ plus a photo of the “Carnival Colors – Make Up Kit” is included to provide you with information about Consumers finding consumer.org.nz/news/view/extremely-high-lead-levels-found-in-childrens-face-paint Following the media release made by Consumer NZ, Public Health Units around the country have been surveying all suspected retail outlets to ensure that the implicated products have been removed from sale.
