PLEASE SHARE I need to raise £12,000 in the next week to pay for two more lorries of winter aid for the displaced people of Iraq. This new year appeal has had an incredible response and I have an enormous amount of clothing to send. I have funding for the lorry that left Brighton yesterday, for the one that leaves Wellingborough this Friday, and have now confirmed funding for the one that will leave Brighton this Saturday. However, I will have enough winter clothes, shoes, blankets and some other essentials to send another lorry from Brighton AND Wellingborough next week, subject to funding. This will take us to five lorries this month, and eight since October. For those of you who dont know me, I am a mum of two young children (aged 2 & 5) who felt moved to do something about the horrific conditions that the refugees and displaced people are having to try to survive in. I organise this around my family life, and take no money from this. The money you give is spent on the costs of each lorry, and that is my only overhead. These people have babies and little children, and many are living in tents and unfinished buildings with no windows, doors, heating and sometimes no walls. It is freezing cold there and they have had snow in the last two weeks. Babies have been dying as a result of hypothermia. One lorry will clothe approximately 6,000 people at a cost of around £1 per person and provides so much to so many, at a very low cost. Please consider giving whatever you can to help get these clothes to our brothers and sisters who have lost everything. We dont have to watch their suffering and feel helpless, we can all do something!
