PLEASE....! TO ALL PARENTS, TEACHERS AND HUMANs..! Dr.Hemalatha Thiagarajan (Retired Professor from NIT Trichy.. and HELPING children for these entrance exams.) As an academician I see the effort put in by students for JEE mains. Especially when TN board students have an easy time with only trivial questions asked in the boards these students concentrate on the two year syllabus. This does negatively influence their marks in boards. But the scoring/normalization is penalizing them too much. One of the students and her friend got 462/500 in CBSE board and 150 in Main and 475/500 in CBSE board and 135 in Mains. The first got a normalized score of 147 and the second 195 a difference of 48 for just a loss of 12 in boards! If you are finally using only board marks as a yardstick why make the students slog for two years? What your scheme does is: Use the high scores of brilliant students in Mains and donate it to the memory experts of some boards. For example the topper in mains has got 335/360. But if his score is only 90 percentile in his board then he gets something that the bottom rankers of Mains get -less than 50. He will not get any seat worthwhile. Please use your common sense and do not penalize students like this for all the effort that they put in.
