PM MODI OUTLINES HIS VISION FOR ARMED FORCES Putting this out as I expect mainstream media will fail to do so effectively. This is what Mr. Modi outlined earlier today 1. The Indian Armed Forces are peacekeepers who protect the environment in which development can happen 2. The Government will spare no expense in ensuring defence or offence preparedness, be it armaments, ammunition or welfare of our combat and support troops 3. Indian Armed Forces will, alongwith the Digital India plan, evolve into a Digital Combat Forces. Electronic countermeasures, advanced networked environment and communication and satellite based command and control to be ushered in 4. A joint operation doctrine to be emphasized in defence and aggressive all arms combat units to be formed. 5. Army and navy aviation will be strengthened for defence and offence capabilities. Blue water navy development to be expedited 6. All essential capital asset building projects (subs, aircraft carriers, modern tanks, MMRCA) stuck in the pipeline will be completed on a priority basis 7. Infrastructure development to enable rapid response and mobilization to be expedited along entire border 8. Indigenously developed missiles to be inducted into combat units of all three branches with more urgency. Mr Modi made special mention of how practical experience of our combat troops can bevused by our scientists andcengineers to develop better defence systems and equipment. 9. The PM also thanked our jawans and all ranks for exemplary work duringvrecent floods as well as in repelling border incursions This is the first time a PM has spoken so emphatically about defence capabilities and laid out a clear commitment to a plan of rejuvenation and action JAI HIND
