PML(Q) supports PTI govt’s stand on Afghan Refugees issues Handout No.2 Peshawar 8st January 2015 Intekhab Khan Chamkani, Provincial President PML-Q, has strongly supported the stand of PTI led coalition govt of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on issues about repatriation of Afghan Refugees, revisiting foreign policy and securing boarders for durable peace. He wondered that Afghan Refugees happily wanted to return homeland but they had to be paid promised money while the people in our centre had become hurdle in this way who renewed agreements with UNHCR without bringing KP govt on board and prolonged refugees stay on so many other pretexts. “It is need of the hour not to compromise on our internal security and national integrity besides completely securing our borders by reviewing our feeble international agreements and promises”, he added. He expressed these views while talking to KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak who called on him at CM Secretariat Peshawar and conveyed the goodwill message and support in the mission of change to the Chief Minister from his party leadership. He while eulogizing the candid steps of Pervez Khattak and his govt for over all development of the province, uprooting the menace of corruption and bringing about transparency in the system also made clear that the central leadership of his party also liked stand and policy of KP govt on these issues and intended to take it with center as well. He also lauded performance of KP Police for maintaining peace and controlling crimes in the province and especially making it independent entity free from political interference. However he expressed concern on certain announcements by the local police in suburbs of Peshawar wherein people in villages were asked to ensure their protection by own because terrorists elements could commit terrorism in uniforms of forces in backdrop of Peshawar tragedy. Pervaiz Khattak immediately summoned CCPO on it and strictly directed him to fix the problem and give a full sense of protection to the people in all villages. Chief Minster also welcomed proposals of Intekhab Chamkani on traffic jam issues in Peshawar assured that besides widening all the roads, new legislation would also be introduced to discourage the trend of bringing processions on roads and blocking it for traffic for hours. He while thanking his party on supporting the provincial government stand on foreign policy and Afghan refugees said that Afghans are in-fact our Muslim brethren and we want wellbeing of both sides so that people of both the Muslim countries could work for peace and development in their home land. Intekhab Chamkani also reiterated the stance of his party PML-Q that KP govt made best arrangements for the IDPs though it was an affair of the federal govt but the centre did nothing except point scoring in this regard. He also lauded the policies and steps of PTI-led coalition govt for elimination of corruption, nepotism, extortion and terrorism as well as paving way for durable peace in the region and improving the performance of govt departments including health and educational institutions, police and revenue offices etc in the province while assured all out cooperation in this respect. He put forth some suggestions in agriculture, environment, traffic system, health and education sectors that were termed useful by the Chief Minister and assured proper consideration on it. Pervez Khattak made clear that we are democratic and political people and not only welcome positive criticism but wanted consultation and guidance from the political forces in all affairs. He said that provincial govt besides focusing attention on law & order has taken drastic steps for power generation in the province because only the energy sector can open doors of socio economic development for the province. In this respect he said we besides exploiting our meager available resources have also repeatedly requested the federal govt for investment in the hydel power cheap electricity generation wherein the centre has given us clear assurances but its implementation is eagerly awaited. Similarly he said that centre has also given candid assurance in overcoming the load-shedding and giving us the due quota of electricity as well as the payment of the outstanding net profit arrears. He said that federation will be strengthened and national integrity will boost if such assurances are honoured by the centre in letter and spirit. Chief Minister said that his party differences with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif are based on principles. He said that we did not want confrontation nor can think about harming the democratic process. However he said that we shall never accept democracy-coated dictatorship, rigging and usurpation of our rights. He said all our demands are aimed at national interest and strengthening of the democracy and we are confident that the federal govt would feel the sensitivity of the situation and would demonstrate political acumen by accepting our just demands instead of confrontation. He said that we will emerge triumphant in our mission of new and prosperous Pakistan by removing all the hurdles in our way due to our sincerity to the purpose while the cooperation of likeminded parties will be a high welcome in this regard, he concluded.
