PMSSS launched to recede stone-pelting incidents ‘Vested interests try to malign our image’ JKPF Srinagar, Sep 7: Alleging that some ‘unscrupulous elements’ for their petty gains are misleading people and students about the Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS), Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Jammu and Kashmir Peace Foundation Saturday said that some influential people tried their best to shelve this Scholarship scheme in order to swindle Central funds. “PMSSS was launched in 2010 to keep the youth of Kashmir away from stone-pelting. Power mongers tried their best to put this scheme in cold storage, however, Peace Foundation along with some other NGO’s intervened and allowed students to reap benefits for this scheme,” PF Chairman Fayaz Ahmed Bhat told CNS. He said that at least ten thousand Kashmiri students are reaping benefits under this scheme. “Innocent students are being instigated by some vested interests. We played a positive role for the establishment of peace in Valley,” he said. He said that political, social and religious leaders should encourage those Organizations which work for the better of society. “Some people tried to associate us with Himayat and Udaan Schemes which is totally baseless. Our Organization played a key role in providing scholarships to the desired and deserved students of Kashmir,” Bhat said. Pertinently, Governor of Jammu and Kashmir is the Chief Patron of JKPF.
