POINTS TO PONDER A NEW SERIES: Wrestling, Watching, Praying and Praising A Study on the Book of Habakkuk WRITER: Habakkuk DATE: c.610-605 B.C. PURPOSE: To assure Gods people that evil does not endure forever. KEY THEME: Wrestling with God over His unfathomable ways. The Book called the Bible may date from ancient times, but it is so relevant to us today. There is no doubt that it is living and active, sharper than a double-edged sword (see Hebrews 4:12). The Book of Habakkuk is a perfect example of that enduring Biblical relevance. Time and again we find that we see ourselves and our times in the verses of Habakkuk! The ancient prophet, witnessing the evils around him, wrestled with Gods seemingly indifferent attitude. It seemed to be a contradiction to His holy nature. But when the Lord revealed His plan, an even greater problem arose. So Habakkuk decided to get alone and wait for his mind to clear. God gave him a fresh vision...hope beyond his despair, which resulted in a time of meaningful prayer as Habakkuk praised the awesome Lord of heaven and earth. - Charles Swindoll (The Living Insights Study Bible) Have a safe and blessed day everyone.
