POLICE QUELL UPNG FIGHT By: Ivan Bayagau/ Rose Amos Students at at the University of Papua New Guinea main campus have been involved in a fight after a faction from two highlands provinces opposed the majoritys decision to protest over current political events. The students are demanding Prime Minister Peter ONeill to step down over his alleged involvement in the Paul Paraka lawyers payment saga. The disruptive students were chased away from the forum yesterday, resulting in the fight spreading onto the main road, prompting quick police intervention. Acting National Capital District Metropolitan Superintendent, Perou NDranou said, theyve told leaders from the two factions to come together and amicably settle the issue. Leaders, they could come and meet us at Waigani police and resort whats end up with.Its now difficult for the other group now outside. Just waiting, theyre fearing for their life if they go back in. So am asking the leaders of the group inside, you know, to create a dialogue between the two group and police will be around to assist moreover they want. From the picture below, the other group mainly Southern Highlands Students are chased out of the campus and they gathered out side the bus stop towards the PNG Institute of Public Administration............
