At this point, I withhold any judgment regarding the serviceman and his current status. Instead, what I find most troubling, and the reason for this letter is to focus on the behavior of the president, his administration, and going forward, what it means for the future of this nation. Regardless of political party preference, the obvious disregard for existing law by the president in this instance is a threat to the health and welfare of the entire nation. Releasing these specific detainees in this manner has certainly increased the risk to American’s abroad and threatens National Security at home. The milk has already been spilled so to speak and this action cannot be undone. President Obama’s unilateral conduct however, clearly demonstrates his disdain for equally sharing power and decision making with Congress. His willingness to disregard the law as passed by Congress for whatever reason is very troubling. This is not the first time, nor I suspect the last that he will intentionally act without approval, consultation, notification, or within the confines of the law. As Senate Intelligence Committee Chair, you preside over a Congressional Committee with the utmost responsibility to keep America safe from our enemies. You have sensitive information at your disposal and a responsibility to conduct yourself appropriately for the American People. It appears however, after this most recent incident, your knowledge, experience, and input are no longer welcome or relevant to this president. I am deeply concerned that America has forsaken the rule of law under President Obama. An unfortunate example of disregard for the law and Congress is; the US Attorney General found in Contempt of Congress nearly two years ago and still holding office today without any consequences to speak of and without resolution of the circumstances leading to the charges. It appears to be a pattern from this administration? Lawlessness in America is unacceptable. Regardless of political party, our nation cannot exist as we know it, without expectations and adherence to the law. Not being a partisan issue, both parties have had members convicted of violations of law while in office. The degree of lawless behavior demonstrated by this president however is very troubling and cannot be good for the nation. A serious question we must ask: What other laws will President Obama disregard or is he already disregarding? Unintended consequences of his refusal to enforce current Immigration law appear to be having a very significant effect on American resources as I write this letter. By what federal authority is it appropriate to transfer non-American persons who are in the country illegally across state lines for release into the general population without consultation or coordination with the affected state? What lawful authority is being complied with or disregarded in this instance? Are there potential health risks to the population? Are any of these non-American persons security threats or potential terrorists? Has the DOJ come out with a legal analysis of this federal action? Is there a negative or positive impact to the nation? I ask that you set politics aside and address your responsibilities professionally without any prejudice for or against any specific party platform, agenda, or affiliation. America is in great need of sound leadership and we must look to Congress for a lawful solution. I respectfully ask that you engage all lawful means at your disposal and coordinate with other lawfully elected representatives regardless of political party affiliation or lack thereof, and conduct the nations business for the health and well being of the American People and our future as a nation. Please take any and all lawful steps to immediately stop the lawless behavior of this president and his administration.
