PORTRAITS OF RECONCILIATION: The act of forgiveness. Photographer Pieter Hugo captured a series of unlikely, almost unthinkable tableaus, where predator and survivor from the genocide of Rwanda pose together in an image. AMI’s (Association Modeste et Innocent) is a nonprofit organization program, which counseled small groups of Hutus and Tutsis over many months, culminating in the perpetrator’s formal request for forgiveness. This takes place two decades after the genocide, which killed nearly a million people. The series was commissioned by Creative Court, an arts organization based there, as part of “Rwanda 20 Years,” a program exploring the theme of forgiveness. A must see project:
