POSITION: Assistant Director and Challenge Course Manager, Taipei, Taiwan Organization: Camp Taiwan Reports to: Camp Directors and Camp Owners Starting Date: March 1, 2015 Position Purpose: To further the mission of Camp Taiwan through the development and management of program, human resource, challenge course, safety management and strategic operations. Essential Job Functions: Work together with Camp Directors to design, deliver, and evaluate camp program that meets the needs and interests of the camps target populations and ensure their delivery in a safe and quality manner. · Remain current with information on the developmental needs of youth. · Annually seek and analyze input from youth, families, and staff regarding the quality, safety, and enjoyment of the program and staff. · Develop and implement crisis and risk management procedures. · Design and ensure delivery of programs and activities appropriate to the camper population. Manage and Oversee Challenge / Ropes Course in order to set and maintain high standards of safety and facilitation for challenge and ropes courses elements, equipment, staff and programs. Areas of responsibility include: · Understand and manage set up, take down and safety checks of all the CC and RC elements. · Hire and train staff on all aspects of CC, High and Low ropes courses. · Responsible for maintaining (and updating when necessary) documentation of ropes and equipment usage, daily reports and seasonal reviews. · Bring in inspectors to complete routine inspections of all our equipment and elements. · Purchase new equipment as necessary. · Keep up to date on industry standards and implement changes and updates as necessary. · Review safety and risk management plans and update rescue plans as needed. · Provide ongoing training, evaluation and feedback to all facilitators. · Write lesson plans that meet camp outcomes and the abilities of the campers. · Work with Camp Directors to give advice for new elements, programs or challenge course opportunities. Work together with the Directors to develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies. · Collaborate with Management team to implement human resource management practices to recruit and retain seasonal and year-round staff. · Recruit local freelance, seasonal, summer and occasional staff based on camper enrollment and program management requirements. · Work with management team to train, supervise, and evaluate seasonal and year-round staff. Give input to the financial management and fund development operations to allow for adequate annual funding and to meet long-term goals. · Give input on budget for the camp operations. · Work collaboratively with the Management team to develop and design long-term fund raising strategies for the camp program and facilities. · Work collaboratively with the management team to implement a marketing plan to increase camper attendance and camp usage. · Assist with preparing and analyzing enrollment and program trends. · Give feedback to the director for maintenance needs to ensure stewardship of current resources and identification of future needs. Required Qualifications: · Bilingual – (spoken) English and Native or Near Native* Mandarin Speaker (*must be able to speak Mandarin fluently, read and write traditional characters). · Good working knowledge of Taiwan’s Outdoor Recreation Industry. · 2 years experience as challenge course manager or senior challenge course instructor. · ACCT challenge course practitioner level 2 or industry equivalent. · Current WFR/ EMT/ WFA · Masters degree in related field or Bachelors degree with 3 years Outdoor Recreation Management experience. · Experience working with school age children in a residential (overnight) program. · Strong communication skills · Positive and outgoing attitude · Willing to work in all areas of the Camp Taiwan program · North American style summer camp experience is an asset. · Marketing and PR experience an asset. · Must be willing to live residentially at Camp Taiwan as scheduled on Client days Compensation and Benefits · Dynamic work environment with a variety of local and international clients. · Innovative company that is interested in expanding school programs and challenge course. · Professional Development toward maintaining and improving relevant certification. · Work Permit (ARC) for qualified successful candidates (Canadian, American, UK, Australian, New Zealand passport holders only) · Health and Labor insurance · Lodging provided. · Travel stipend provided. · Salary starting at NT$85,000/month 12 months + 1 month CNY “profit share” bonus.
