POSITION: World Water Monitoring Challenge Manager STATUS: Exempt, Full time BACKGROUND EarthEcho International is a nonprofit 501c3 organization founded by siblings Philippe and Alexandra Cousteau in honor of their father Philippe Cousteau Sr., famous son of the legendary explorer Jacques Yves Cousteau. SCOPE In January 2015, EarthEcho will assume responsibility for the World Water Monitoring Challenge (WWMC). We are seeking a self-directed employee to: • Lead the ongoing development, coordination, and implementation of the WWMC program globally to build public awareness and involvement in protecting water resources. • Grow participation in WWMC to 1 million participants within three years. • Work closely with EarthEcho’s Education Director to ensure consistency with the organization’s youth program offerings. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Develop annual WWMC work plan and program budget. • Manage program to accomplish planned goals while delivering within budget. • Serve as primary point of contact for partners and participants. This includes establishing regular and ongoing communications systems and ensuring that participants are uploading data. • Establish new partnerships with municipalities, corporations, NGOs, and other organizations willing to promote or implement WWMC both nationally and internationally. • Disseminate information about WWMC to target audiences, including schools, environmental agencies, and youth clubs. Research and recruit prospective partners in low participation areas. • Proactively seek and manage promotional opportunities (conferences, etc.). Involves travel. • Serve as primary liaison to LaMotte—the WWMC test kit distributor. • Annually update WWMC test kit packaging and brochures. • Work with Education Director to adapt program resources to aid growing participation needs. • Assist in design and manage maintenance of WWMC mobile technologies and program database. • Maintain website content. • Maintain all WWMC-related social media channels. • As applicable, manage international coordinators. • Manage all award opportunities. • Create and distribute annual report of WWMC program. • Respond to all general inquiries re: WWMC. QUALIFICATIONS The WWMC Manager should possess the following background and skills: • B.A. in environmental management, communications, or related field. • Minimum five years’ experience managing environmental programs with a focus on external partner communications—this is an administrative management position, not a field education position. • Strong technology and social media skills. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • High energy, positive attitude, flexibility, and high degree of initiative. • Comfort working remotely and both independently and within a team structure. • Ability to travel regularly (passport required). • Verbal and written Spanish proficiency strongly preferred.
