POSITIONED IN QUIETNESS This is a repost but will help you in the Secret Place! The Bible says that Mary sat at Jesus feet. Do you know what Mary was doing? She was listening. Because she positioned herself in a place of surrender and quietness, she learned to hear His voice. I can just picture her looking on the Lords face and thinking: Oh, Youre awesome. Youre so wonderful! She sat gazing into His eyes and listening to His voice. Soaking is also about positioning ourselves in prayer at Jesus feet as Mary did. I want to reposition you in your prayer time. Do you know Marys position—that position of quietness and yielding? Are you touching intimacy with Jesus, or are you more like Martha with her to do list? I often tell the Lord, Your presence is good enough. I just want to be with You. I dont want to talk to You about my cares or my needs. You know the things I have need of anyway. Jesus said, Your Heavenly Father knows that you need all these things (Matt 6:30). If you can grasp this truth your needs will be met more frequently and wont be dependent on your asking. Yes, one aspect of our relationship with God involves asking. But God wants to bring us to a new level of relationship, that of lovers. In the natural, lovers often want to do things to bless their beloved, whether theyre asked to or not. God wants to draw us into this same intimacy. Sometimes all I do is sit at His feet and bask. Thats it. Almost every teaching and revelation found on my audio and book table has come out of those soaking times. God has dropped revelation on me so fast that sometimes Ive written four sermons at once. It had nothing to do with me; God would just burn the revelation inside me. Oh thats where God wants to bring us! God is calling the church back to intimacy and friendship with Him. What does the Bible say God wants of us? He has shown you, O man what is good; and what does the Lord require of you...to walk humbly with your God. (Mic. 6:8). O, how the Father longs for you to walk with Him, to enjoy fellowship with Him. The Father longs for your presence more thank you long for His. The Four Rs of Meditation and Contemplation -Read the Word quickly and out loud so you hear it. -Respond to it with your heart and mind. Respond to the passages that were most meaningful and reread those. -Recollect or meditate with an open mind and heart to gods will. -Rest in His presence. Following are some powerful scriptures to kick-start your meditation and motivate you to continue with this life-changing way of connecting with God and His Word: With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You. (Psalm 119:10, 11) Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. (Colossians 3:16) My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart; for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh. (Proverbs 4:20, 22) Therefore you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land of which the Lord swore to your fathers to give them, like the days of the heavens above the earth.(Deuteronomy 11:18-21) In Him, Todd Bentley
