POSTURE OF THE WEEK - Standing Deep Breathing Pranayama Breathing feels strange at first, because lungs are not used to maximum expansion. With each class you will find your breath becomes deeper & fuller. Standing Deep Breathing teaches you to use up to 100 % of your lung capacity. This helps prevent respiratory problems such as bronchitis and asthma. Over time, as the lungs become more elastic and capable of greater expansion, they can actually change the structure of the rib cage that surrounds them, expanding it as well. By expanding the lungs this breathing exercise stimulates circulation and it therefore wakes up the muscles and the entire body. This is a great warm up before any exercise.
