POWER-UP “The Story of 3 Farmers” By: Bro. Bo Sanchez The Cast: The Old Richman, Mangsay, Mangsuc, and Mangswa Once upon a time many centuries ago, there was a veeeeeery very very veryyyyyy “Rich Man” and he owned a huge tracks of land. (How huge?) He owned the whole province. (The problem is? Ask me what?) He had no children. No one to inherit his land. (ahhhyyyy….) So one day, he called his faithful, the most faithful farmers, Mangsay, Mangsuc, and Mangswa, brought them to the balcony of his house, overlooking, the sprawling land, spreading all the way until as farrrrr far as the eye can see. That was his property…. And he told the three farmers, Mangsay, Mangsuc and Mangswa, I’m giving you my property. The three was shock and they started to cry for happiness, and they said… Thank you, thank you, thank you…. And the rich man said, I have no children anyway so it’s all yours… Walk as far as you want, and whatever you walk on, that’s your property. Choose how big property you want, Mangsay walks here to the north, Mangsuc over there to the east and Mangswa over there to the west. Go as far as you walk that’s your property. “What time is it now?” and the three said, “ahhhm sir its 8:00 O’clock in the morning”. The old rich man said, okay its 8:00 O’clock, and walk as far as you want but I have only one condition, come back here at 5:00 O’clock in the afternoon and will sign a contract. I want to give you some flags, the rich man said. Walk in as far as you want and plant this flag as the boundary line of your property and that’s your property. About Mangsay: He was so excited, and he starts walking and walking, but then in more and more steps he began to feel more anxious, anxiety, and wetting all over his face and became more uncomfortable as he taking another steps, looking back always, and he said “Oh my gash, its mine? Is it real? Oh my gash…” In every step, it was so painful for him, and finally he could not take of another step and he decides to plant his flag and he say “that’s it”. (You know how long he plants his flag?) 30 minutes, and it is still in very slow steps. And then he went back to the owner and the old rich man said “why are you here already? It’s still 9:00 O’clock; your property is very small. And Mangsay so ashamed, looking at his feet and says, “Sir, I cannot own a big property, even a small property that I’ve walked on now…. I don’t know… you see sir, let me explain… My father is a poor farmer, my grandfather is also a poor farmer, my greet grandfather is also a poor farmer, and the old rich man said, “Okay, stop… stop… stop… If that’s what you want, that small property, that’s okay… I’m giving you a choice. Here’s a contract, and sign… Are you sure you want to sign? You can still walk; there is still a lot of time. And Mangsay said, No sir, this is all I want. Thank you very much sir. Thank you…. About Mangsuc: Mangsuc is like Mangsay, he is very excited, but he walks fast. He was so very happy and was builting up a song. He walked from 8:00 O’clock in the morning and his plan was so clear. He stopped at 12:00 noon, and he planted his flag and that’s his property. Then he rested for an hour, and then at 1 O’clock in the afternoon, he walks back. The owner of the land welcomes him and said, “Mangsuc, your property must be very big, imagine walking all the way until 5:00 O’clock in the afternoon.” Then Mangsuc replied and said, “Yes sir, I am rich because of you. Thank you very much… And like you, I will share my richness to my neighbors, my poor farmers.. Thank you… Thank you sir.” And the old man said, “Here is the contract, please sign.” And while Mangsuc is signing the contract, the old man asked Mangsuc, “By the way, have you seen Mangswa?” He looks to the horizon and said, “I don’t see him.” And Mangsuc said, “Oh, sir. You just wait for a while, he might just be a little bit delayed. Please wait sir… You know what happened to Mangswa? This is what happened: At 8:00 O’clock in the morning, he starts running. He is not walking, he is running… He was so very happy and enjoys life while he runs. And at 12:00 noon, he did not stop, but he’s mind told him to stop, and he’s emotion told him to keep on running and running and running. Why? Because he wants to own a big property. And he said, “Sayang, I’m going to miss of owning this property.” And then at 1 O’clock in the afternoon, he keeps on running until the time riches to 4 O’clock in the afternoon. Then he reluctantly plants his flag. In 8 hours he runs, and then going back to the old rich man for only an hour? Is there any logic of what he is doing? My friends, here is the truth, and you will be going to learn this. “When greed takes over your heart, logic flies out all the way.” And so this is what happened, this is the very crazy reason that he said, “I will run as fast as I can to go back, and I can do this.” And at 5:00 O’clock in the afternoon, he is still very veryyy far away. And he is running and running as fast as he can, then suddenly he clutches his heart and falls to the ground and dies. And you know what? Mangswa becomes a property owner, he still owns a property. The land owner gave him a property, but not too big. It’s only a 4 feet by 8 feet. He is grave. The lesson of the story: There are three important lesson of the story. 1. RECEIVE YOUR PROSPERITY – Do not become like Mangsay, the complete name of Mangsay is “Mang Sayang”. The land owner was saying that, “walk as far as you can, get as much property as you want” but he could not. Why? Because of his small thinking.”I don’t deserve it, I’m not worthy” Have you heard people say that? Do you hear that in people’s life? Friends, this was the message of Jesus in the bible, “Dream big dreams, Pray bold prayers, and live a great life. This is your destiny.” But Mang Sayang could not wrap his mind around the idea that God wants to give him the abundance. Because he saw himself as poor, he saw himself as small, and so he will find the way to become small and to remain poor. Don’t become like Mang Sayang, receive the prosperity of God. Because the prosperity is not for you, it’s for others. He blesses you, so that you become a blesser(yourself). Earn as much as you can, prosper as much as you can. Once again, it’s not for you, it’s for others. 2. RESPECT YOUR PACE – you see the master skills of all champions are to know, to have the ability, and to grow at the right pace. That’s the master skills of all champions, the ability to grow at the right pace. You know the real name of Mangswa? It’s Mang Swapang. He does not know, he keeps on running, and running. He does not know when to stop. He does not know that enough is enough. He just runs and runs because he does not know how to pace his growth. Listen to me friends, “Not all growth is good.” You need to know when to grow and you need to know when not to grow. You need to know when enough is enough. That’s it. He did not know, because of that he died. When you look at your life and you see signs of your life dying because you’re hurrying your growth, it’s a sign from God, saying STOP. When you’re working and working and working and you’re in a hurry, and then you’re health is suffering, it’s a sign from God, STOP all in a day. If your family is hurting, your relationship is hurting, and your hurrying and hurrying and hurrying and you see those signs of damage in your life and it’s time to plant your flag in the ground, and saying enough is enough, it’s time to STOP. My dear friends, “Be patient with your progress, never hurry your growth, and enjoy every step of the journey.” Let me give you a warning, of FAITH and PRIDE, they are different from each other but both of them can say the same message to you. You better watch it where does it come from. The message is, “You can do it, nothing is impossible.” Because Mang Swapang was always saying “I can do this, even though his mind is telling him to STOP, he always saying I can do this.” That comes from PRIDE, the partner of GREED. My dear friends, you need to discern whether from PRIDE or FAITH. Because Pride can leads to destruction. This can applies in many areas of our lives. It is very, very important, you need to learn and know when to plant your flag, and say this is enough. Tomorrow is another day, I can walk tomorrow but now I can stop. You’ve got to learn to say no to short term growth, so that you can say yes to long term growth. Sometimes we need to stop and looking of how far to have you to go, and start looking at how far you have gone. Because if you keep on looking of how far you’re still to go, you’re in the frustrated then the temptation is always saying hurry, hurry, hurry… Ang layo pa eh. No. No. Sometimes you need to look at how far you have gone. And say, “Ahhyyy, ang layo na pala ng nakarating.” You know sometimes instead of looking of how far you have gone, you need to look of how far you have come. Yes, instead of being frustrated, and tempted to hurry, you look back and you become grateful for what God has done in your life. 3. RETURN TO THE PROVIDER – you what is the real name of Mangsuc? It’s Mang Success. The reason why Mang Success was able to stop at 12:00 noon, because in his mind he always thought at 5:00 O’clock in the afternoon his provider was waiting for him. He knew… Four hours going onwards, and four hours going back. My dear friends please understand in your pursuit to your dreams. If some people they run and run and run, chasing after gifts, they forget that unless you have the giver of the gifts in your heart, you will never be happy. You’ve got to return to your provider. There are many people, they chase after gold, and they forgot to chase after God. The God of all gold. “When you want to succeed as much as you want to breathe, thats when you will be successful”
