#POWER9TWELVE #SPORTSUPDATE Nkana have made twelve signings for the 2015 season in a bid to try and reclaim the FAZ Super League title they relinquished in 2014. The twelve signings include Power Dynamos striker Felix Nyaende who joins on a permanent move after finding very little playing time across the road at Nkana’s Kitwe arch-rivals. Nkana have also signed four players from demoted Konkola Mine Police. The quartet includes striker’s Ronald Chibwe and Chanda Mushili plus midfielder Austin Muwowo who have all joined on loan from the Chililabombwe club. Midfielder Hosea Silwimba who spent the 2014 season on loan at Mine Police has returned to Nkana. Nkana has also acquired the services of Zambia Under-17 defender Kapota Kayawe from Kafue Celtic together with his club mate Emmanuel Museka. Ex-Napsa Stars goalkeeper Scott Ngokane, striker Djunes Kanda from Indeni, Kalulushi Modern Stars duo of Shadrick Musonda and Josphat Kasusu have all joined Nkana on permanent deals. Defender Francis Simwanza’s loan move from Konkola Blades to Nkana is now permanent while Roan United defender Given Sinyangwe is another long-term signing. Meanwhile, some big name departures from Nkana include midfielder Kelvin Mubanga who has moved to Power and defender Derrick Mwansa whose loan from promoted Nkwazi expired in December. Striker Festus Mbewe has moved to Red Arrows. ------------ Lionel Messis future at Barcelona has been the subject of intense speculation in recent weeks but the Argentina captain showed again on Sunday he is not letting it distract him from what he does best. Messi followed up a brilliant showing in last weekends 3-1 La Liga win at home to champions Atletico Madrid with a hat-trick in a 4-0 win at Deportivo La Coruna which kept Barca hard on the heels of leaders Real Madrid. Reports have been swirling about a rift between Messi and Luis Enrique, with the four-times World Player of the Year apparently unhappy with the Barca coachs management style and tactics and said to be seeking an exit from the club he joined at the age of 13. ----------- Little clarity on the likely outcome of Africa Cup of Nations Group B was offered by the four protagonists on their opening night of competition at the Estadio de Ebebeyin on Sunday. Two 1-1 draws between, first, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia and then the Cape Verde Islands and Tunisia means all four sides are level after the first round of matches. The Cape Verde Islands, competing in only their second finals, were the most pleased after coming from a goal down to hold fancied Tunisia in the second game at the 5 000-seater stadium in the small jungle town in the top eastern corner of Equatorial Guinea. Striker Heldon converted a penalty seven minutes after Mohamed Ali Moncer had given Tunisia the lead with a debut goal in the 70th minute. Earlier, Zambia scored after two minutes but then let the game slip as the Congolese took control in the second half and conjoured up a deserved equaliser just over an hour later from Yannick Bolasie. --------------- Juventus reached the halfway point of the Serie A season with a commanding five-point lead over Roma after thrashing Verona for the second time in four days on Sunday. Paul Pogba and Serie A leading scorer Carlos Tevez both scored in the opening seven minutes as Juve extended their lead at the top of the standings with a 4-0 win. Juve have 46 points from 19 games, with Roma on 41 after they were held 1-1 at Palermo on Saturday. Napoli are a distant third with 33 points after beating Lazio 1-0 in Rome on Sunday thanks to an 18th minute goal from Argentine international Gonzalo Higuain. Fast-starting Juventus have made a habit of scoring in the opening minutes of games, with nine of their league-leading 42 coming inside the opening 15 minutes. ------------- Fifa Ballon dOr winner Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as Real Madrid comfortably won at Getafe to maintain their one-point La Liga advantage. Ronaldo won the award - given to the world footballer of the year - on Monday and fired in an opener after Karim Benzemas pull-back. Gareth Bale added a second four minutes later when he prodded the ball home from James Rodriguezs cross. Rodriguez was again involved in Reals third as Ronaldo headed his cross in. The Portugal international has now scored 36 times in 2014-15 for Real, who have won 14 of their last 15 league matches after losing two of their first three games at the start of the season. At the final whistle, Real moved four points ahead of Barcelona, although that was then reduced back to one point when Luis Enriques side beat Deportivo La Coruna 4-0. ------------ Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says victory over Manchester City has answered doubts about their defence and ability to beat top clubs away from home. Goals from Santi Cazorla and Olivier Giroud gave Arsenal a 2-0 win at City in contrast to last seasons 6-3 loss. I am very pleased because our defence have been questioned a lot, Wenger, 65, told BBC Radio 5 live. The win lifted Arsenal to fifth in the table, a point off the Champions League places, but damaged Manchester Citys title push and they now sit five points behind leaders Chelsea, who they meet at Stamford Bridge on 31 January. ------------ Third seed Rafael Nadal returned to Grand Slam action with a comprehensive win over Russias Mikhail Youzhny. The Spaniard, 28, won 6-3 6-2 6-2 in his first match at a Grand Slam since Wimbledon following injury and illness. Sixth seed Andy Murray beat Indias Yuki Bhambri 6-3 6-4 7-6 (7-3), while second Roger Federer plays Yen-Hsun Lu later on Monday. Womens fifth seed Ana Ivanovic suffered a shock 1-6 6-3 6-2 defeat by Czech qualifier Lucie Hradecka.
