PRACTICE SWIM The weather forecast is currently calling for a strong chance of scattered thunderstorms throughout the morning. At this point the practice swim is still scheduled and will continue even in a light rain. In the event of a strong storm or lightening, however, the swim may be briefly postponed or cancelled. Updates will be posted on our Facebook page, or you may call the Heron Park Nature Center which opens daily at 8:30am. Getting there: Once you come through Kiawahs Main Gate, take your fifth right onto Sea Forest Drive, then follow Event Parking sings. Staff will meet you at the Night Heron Park Parking lot (TA) between 9:45am and 10:15am. Participants will walk or run (~.5mile) on the beach to the swim start. There will be NO lifeguards on duty, and swimmers will be swimming at their own risk. Kayakers and limited buoys will direct swimmers. Currently, the water temperature is 85 degrees. Practice, Practice, Practice!
