PRAYER FOR WHEN THERE IS CONFLICT BETWEEN HUSBAND AND WIFE Heavenly Father, Your Word proclaims that all things work together for the good to those who love You. In the midst of my marital crossfire, I trust that You are working things out for my good. Regardless how much conflict began; I bless my spouse (Matt.5: 44). Overwhelm me with Your love and compassion. I will not allow dissension to drive a wedge between the two of us. Therefore what You have joined together, let neither my spouse nor I separate (Matt. 19:6) More than changing my spouse, Lord, change me. I want to be more like You. May You increase and I decrease. Search my heart and weed out any pride that prevents me from being part of the solution rather than the problem. I can’t be so arrogant as to assume I have no liability in our disagreement. Convict me of my sin. Cultivate Your humility in me so I can openly confess my wrongdoing and be restored. What part my spouse is responsible for in our conflict, please change them. No matter how hard I try, no matter how well I can argue, I am incapable of changing my spouse, so I release them to the conviction of Your Holy Spirit. I refuse to usurp Your role in my spouse’s life. I lay aside all anger, wrath, resentment, and offenses of the past. My love keeps no record of wrongs but always protects, always trusts, always hope, always preserve (1 Cor. 13:5b, 7). It’s to my glory to overlook an offense so I forgive my spouse for any hurts that have been inflicted, whether accidental or intentional. I will not be ensnared by the devil through foolish and ignorant disputes. I place a hedge of protection around my household (Job 1:10) that the enemy would not have a foothold in the covenant my spouse and I have established with God. Show us that we are on the same side fighting one opponent. The wisdom that comes from above is willing to yield. Grant me Your wisdom to discern my fleshly desires from truth. Give me a sense of which battles are worth fighting and which ones aren’t. More importantly, restore us so we can live together again in agreement. Strengthen us as a result of our conflict, and draw us closer to one another. May the seeds of peace sown in our relationship yield a harvest of righteousness (James 3:18) Spiritual Warfare Prayers/
