PRAYER OF DANIEL By Margaret Morenike Doherty-Aka Bible Reference: Daniel 6:10 Even after the law was issued that forbade prayers, Daniel refused to compromise his communion with God. He boldly knelt down not one or two but THREE times daily to pray to God as he did before. He totally disregarded the decree that was issued that forbade praying to any other dainty apart from King Nebuchadnezzar. Beloved, Daniel was fully aware that he could be seen (because he left his windows ajar). The bible says the righteous shall be bold as a lion (Proverbs 28:1). Daniel, being a son of the Lion of Judah, exhibited boldness which is a trait of a lion, by his decision to continue his prayers. When the king heard this, he was filled with indignation towards Daniel and ordered that he’d be thrown into the lion’s den! He mocked Daniel by telling him that “the God he continually served” would deliver him! Beloved, believe it or not, the God who sees and hears all things showed up on Daniel’s behalf and showed himself mighty! The bible tells us that they eye of the Lord runs to and fro to show himself mighty on behalf of those whose heart is perfect towards him (2 Chron. 16:9). Beloved, the power of the Most High was made manifest in the lions den. God showed up, showed off and showed out on Daniel’s behalf! You see, lions do not eat lions (though they devour other animals including humans). The lions in the den recognized Daniel as the son of the Lion of the tribe of Judah and therefore did not harm him! But as soon as the other men were thrown in this same den, they were devoured by the hungry lions! When the king saw that “the God whom Daniel served” had indeed delivered him from the lions, he made a proclamation that in every dominion of his kingdom men trembled and feared before “the God of Daniel” declaring “He is the living God who is steadfast forever”. The king proclaimed to everyone that the kingdom of the God of Daniel was that which could not be destroyed and that he works signs and wonders in heaven and on earth! Beloved, the eyes of the Lord is upon the righteous and his ears are open unto their cry. It is written in Psalms 126 that “then said they among the heathens: the Lord hath done great things for them” Beloved, this scripture was made flesh in the life of Daniel. All eyes saw that Daniel served a living God. I pray in the mighty name of Jesus that as you take your stand for Jesus, he would show up, show off and show out for you the way he did for Daniel.
