**PRE SEASON CONDITIONING** Was a real pleasure to train Footballer Dan Fitchett (England C Team) and put him through his paces in a brutal 1 hour conditioning session. Dan came to me asking for 3 sessions per week because he really wanted to be pushed to his limits, so obviously I said yes and met up with him in the sunshine. We started off with a nice warm up and some functional exercise to open up the hips, stretch out the legs and get the heart pumping and ready for some intense conditioning. This was followed by some cone agility work and sprints with a short rest time to keep Dan out of his comfort zone. Squat jumps and bench jumps came next to increase the jumping ability to head the ball and give his legs some more explosive/power when playing top level football. We used the parachute for some 60m sprints because getting Dan’s body used to running against resistance means the muscles have to try and adapt and therefore need to work harder in order for the sprint to be effective. A nice few shuttle sprints to finish off saw Dan on the floor gasping for air but one thing I did notice is how short his recovery period is due to years of cardio and exercise.
