PRESIDENT JOYCE BANDA BRIBES CATHOLIC BOSS, MONEY TURNED DOWN Embattled Malawi President Joyce Banda this week tried to bribe the National Coordinator of the Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP), Chris Chisoni with over MK6 million, we can reveal. President Banda, made the bribery offer to Mr Chisoni when she met her at Kamuzu Palace on Monday evening this week. A State House official has confirmed that President Banda met Chisoni on Monday afternoon as part of her reaction to the release of the churchs pastoral letter the previous day. On Sunday afternoon, President Banda made a telephone call to Mr Chisoni during which time she demanded that Chisoni should come to the State House to discuss further and in person the details of their conversations. During the meeting at Kamuzu Palace, President Banda is reported to have offered US$15,000 (about MK 6 million) so that he goes back and plead with the Catholic Bishops to stop calling on their flock and Malawians in general to exercise Holy Anger against her government’s looting of public funds in the cashgate scandal. The President told Mr Chisoni she feared that following Bishops’ appeal, Malawians were going to flood the streets and remove her from power before the end of her time in May 2014. However, Chisoni refused the MK6 million bribe from President Banda and instead encouraged her to concentrate in addressing the reasons that made the Bishops appeal for Holy Anger. Meanwhile, the Episcopal Conference of Malawi, a grouping of all Catholic Bishops in Malawi that issued the pastoral letter have been briefed of efforts by President Joyce Banda to bribe the head of its CCJP secretariat with a dirty MK6 million stolen from Cashgate. The senior Catholic clerks are expected to meet later in the week to discuss the bribery attempts by President Joyce Banda on their churchs officials. President Joyce Banda has met the Catholic Bishops at least on two occasions in the last two months. Both meetings took place in Catholic premises after the Bishops turned down her requests for them to travel to State House. Achoke! Achoke! Achoke!!!
