PRESS RELEASE 21/11/14 The BlueFish to close its doors at the end of the year After more than 10 years of trading The Blue Fish restaurant in Portland is to close as chef Luciano Da Silva begins a new career at an exciting new venture in Burton Bradstock. Chef Luciano, 47, and his wife Jo, 43, have successfully run the family business for the past 11 years and the restaurant has built up an impressive reputation over that time. However for the past year The Blue Fish has been up for sale as the family have been looking for a change of lifestyle and now Luciano has secured himself a prestigious Head Chef job at The Seaside Boarding House, in Burton Bradstock. He will be working for Mary-Lou Sturridge, former managing director of The Groucho Club, and Anthony Mackintosh, the clubs co-founder. This seven-room clifftop clubhouse will consist of a local, seasonal restaurant, a snug library, bar and dance floor. Luciano begins his very exciting new career in January 2015 but until then The BlueFish will be open as normal until 31st December. Jo said, “This will be a big change for us as a family after 11 fabulous years here which we would not have altered for the world. It is full of absolutely brilliant memories, none of which would have been possible without the amazing support of our customers. “Our family will carry on living at The BlueFish and we will continue to open for our very popular monthly supper nights and quiz evenings”. Jo said “ It will be sad to close but it has been difficult running a business during the economic slowdown, but we are very proud of our time here and look forward to new prospects for the restaurant using it as more of a community space rather than closing altogether”. Events and dates will be posted via their Facebook and Twitter pages so watch this space! The lovely restaurant area will be also be available for public hire - including parties, coffee mornings, business meetings, craft sessions, even hire for fitness classes & kids parties. Jo said, “As it is such a lovely warm and cosy venue it is perfect for any occasion.” For enquiries: call Jo on 01305 822991. Luciano and Jo would like this opportunity to say the biggest thankyou to everyone who has ever been a part of The BlueFish and its wonderful journey and they look forward to their next exciting chapter! Luciano said “After the long fruitful journey, which was a dream come true, I am truly looking forward to sharing my passion and knowledge with a new team to make this new venture a great one, whilst still abling me to remain resident at The BlueFish with my family on this lovely island”. They plan to go out with a bang on New Years Eve with a party - no booking required - the bar will be open and bar snacks available. Join them to see this exciting New Year in. Until then Opening Times: Wednesday to Saturday evening from 6.45pm Breakfast & Lunch every weekend from 9am. Christmas Menu in December - 3 courses for £25 plus Moules nights running every Wednesday and Thursday. They are full on Christmas Day. contact: Jo & Luciano / 01305 822991
