PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 24, 2013 ZAMBEEF ANNOUNCES 100% ZAMBIAN BEEF POLICY Zambeef Products has made a landmark decision to deal exclusively in Zambian beef products, and will no longer sell any imported beef. The move was reinforced today (July 24) when the company staged the symbolic disposal of imported beef products. “After the events of the last one month the company has taken a clear and unequivocal decision to return to its roots and deal exclusively in Zambian beef products only,” said Zambeef Board Chairman, Dr Jacob Mwanza, addressing officials from the Ministry of Health, other government departments and local authorities, the Zambia National Farmers’ Union, media and members of Zambeef staff. The decision aims to reassure Zambian consumers of the quality of Zambeef’s beef and demonstrates a clear commitment to local livestock farmers, for whom Zambeef provides an important market. Zambeef was formed 19 years ago and as the name implies, it was built on processing Zambian beef. In recent years, Zambeef has supplemented its local beef supply with imported beef products. “In line with the above, and in consultation with the Ministry of Health, the company has made the decision to dispose of all imported beef products to give the Zambian public our 100 percent commitment that since June 20, 2013, and from this day forward, only Zambian beef products will be on offer in our outlets,” added the Board Chairman, Dr Jacob Mwanza. The company thanked the Ministry of Health for their guidance and advice on this matter and assured customers that only beef products of the highest quality and of Zambian origin will be offered in its outlets. -Ends- About Zambeef Products Plc Zambeef Products Plc is the largest integrated agribusinesses in Zambia.
