PRESS RELEASE NOVEMEBER 3, 2014 The Starkville Police Department would like to remind all Starkville residents and visitors to lock their vehicles and do not leave keys or valuables visible inside the vehicle. Leaving your key inside the vehicle, especially in plain sight, makes it a target for would-be thieves. Also conceal or remove any property, such as GPS devices, Satellite Radios, Computers, Money, etc. These are also items targeted by thieves. Although no vehicles were stolen over the weekend, Officers on patrol observed multiple locked vehicles with keys in plain view throughout the city. Remote door locks on cars are a very common feature due to their convenience and ease of use. While keyless entry has many advantages regarding its use, don’t put yourself or property at risk.
