PRESS RELEASE: RELEASE IMMEDIATELY: Project: Operation Save our Children, sponsored by the African American Parents Association will be held at the Kent Branch Library located on the corner of Collingwood and Central, Toledo, Ohio on Tuesday, August 12, 2014, from 11:30 AM until 8:30 PM. This project is aimed at keeping our community safe for its children where it relates to harassment, stop and frisk, profiling, unprofessional police conduct and arrests made by TPD abusing their authority. We will be documenting stories told by citizens, regardless of age, compiling those stories and presenting them to Chief of Police William Moton. In keeping with Chief Motons mission of policing is to enhance the quality of life in the City of Toledo by working in partnerships with the community to preserve life, enforce the law, provide quality services, reduce the fear of crime and to promote joint problem solving for safe, secure neighborhoods. We are committed to working with the community to identify and solve problems as an aid in the reduction of crime. The Departments policing practices and tactics will complement the needs of our neighborhoods, we seek to reduce and stop the harassment of law-abiding citizens as they go about their daily business. This lawlessness by some police officers in the Toledo Police Department does not serve our community and provokes a feeling of hopelessness within our community, which contributes to the chaos taking place in our streets. ~ Twila Page 8/11/2014 _________________________________________________________
